The Federal State Children's Health Insurance Program

Recent federal legislation provided for funds to provide for health insurance for uninsured children not covered by Medicaid; New York State is one of the first three states which had an existing children's insurance program that qualified, known as Child Health Plus, funded by the state via the NY State Health Care Reform Act to meet the needed matching funds. The expanded New York State program, Child Health Plus, has been included in the budget for many years. AAP District II and Statewide Youth Advocacy continue with the ongoing project, The Campaign for Healthy Children, and will be involved with advising and/or monitoring this plan.
