AAP Initiative to Support Proposition #2 in NY State in the November election

This proposition has the potential to create legal pathways to fight polluters, create jobs and help ensure a healthy future for this generation and those to come in NY State. It can be a template for other states to adopt similar measures.

You should have a right to clean air and water.

This fall, New Yorkers will have the historic opportunity to enshrine the right to clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment into the Bill of Rights of the New York State constitution. Our Chapter and all of the NY State AAP is already hard at work as part of the Vote YES for Clean Air and Water coalition to establish the highest legal protection available under law to protect public health and the environment.

This election season, registered voters across New York State will be able to vote YES to guarantee:

“Each person shall have the right to clean air and water, and a healthful environment.”

Voting YES on environmental rights will create legal safeguards for New Yorkers to secure clean air and water for generations to come. And we’ll need your help to get the word out to voters from the Adirondacks to the Great Lakes to Long Island Sound and everywhere in between.

Here’s what you can do right now:

  • Visit and sign up for email updates from the Vote YES for Clean Air and Water coalition.

  • Follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for the latest updates.

Let’s make New York State and all of Chapter 1 NYS AAP a leader in environmental rights, to protect kids, the environment, and future generations. Every New Yorker has a right to clean air, water and a healthful environment. Access to clean air and water is a fundamental right –– no matter the color of our skin, how much money we have, or where we live.
