11:30 AM – 1 PM ET
Our Summer Academy involves a diverse group of students from various educational backgrounds spanning from high school, college, undergraduate medical education, and public health professional trainings who participate in innovative educational modalities together across New York State over an eight-week summer program. As they learn foundational principles in environmental health, they couple this with critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork to develop an advocacy tool that can make an impact in children’s environmental health in New York State.
This summer, our advocacy student groups focused on Climate Change and Children’s Health. They were broken down into three groups that were representative of how we interact and are exposed to our environment through climate change. They include:
• By what we eat (“Healthy and Sustainable Eating” Advocacy Group)
• By what we breathe (“Respiratory Concerns from Climate Change” Advocacy Group)
• By what we touch (“Skin and External Exposures from Climate Change” Advocacy Group).
Please join us for this 90-minute session as we showcase the hard work of over 35 students and 10 faculty members from across New York State who will take a lead as future ambassadors in addressing and advocating for children’s environmental health.
We are so grateful for your support of the NYS Children’s Environmental Health Centers and we are proud of the work that the students have done in collaboration with the committed faculty and staff in the program. Please join us in celebrating their accomplishments and learning more about student-led climate advocacy in NY state.
